Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
Your privacy matters. This page explains, in plain language, what information NV collects, how we use it, and the controls you have over it.
1. Who we are
NV Messenger (“NV”, “we”, “our”) is a private communication app that lets you send messages, share moments, and make voice and video calls. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to run NV. This includes: • Account data: your phone number, name, profile photo, optional username, bio, and optional date of birth. • Messages and media: messages, photos, videos, voice notes, and files you send are stored on our servers so you and your recipients can read chat history, sync across devices, and receive content when offline. You can delete individual content; when you delete your account, your profile and associated messages are permanently removed from our servers. • Contacts: only if you tap “Sync Contacts” and grant permission. We send phone numbers and the contact names saved on your device to our servers to find which of your contacts already use NV. We do not sell contact lists. • Device information: device model, OS version, app version, push notification token, and language. We use this to deliver notifications and operate the app on your device. • Location and maps: – Blink (live map): optional. You choose to turn sharing on by tapping Start on the map. While Blink is on, your live position may be shown on the map to contacts you allow (based on your privacy settings). This requires location permission; if you grant “Always” access, your position may continue to update in the background while Blink remains on. You can turn Blink off or enable Ghost mode at any time. – Nearby: a separate optional feature. Your location is sent only when you tap “Check in” on the Nearby screen — not automatically when you open that screen. – Chat location: when you explicitly attach your location to a message. We do not sell location data or use it for third-party advertising. • Motion (optional): if you use the step counter in Blink, NV may read step data from your device to display your daily steps. This is not used for advertising.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to: • Deliver your messages, calls, and stories to the people you choose. • Authenticate your account and prevent abuse, spam, and fraud. • Send service notifications (new messages, call invites). • Operate optional features you turn on, such as Blink live location, Nearby check-in, or contact sync. • Comply with applicable law. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your messages for advertising. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
4. Sharing of information
We share information only in these limited cases: • Service providers: cloud hosting and push notification delivery (Apple, Google) that help us operate NV. These providers act on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality. • Legal requests: when required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users and the public. • With your consent: when you choose to share content with another person or group, when you enable Blink so allowed contacts can see your live position on the map, when you check in to Nearby, or when you attach your location to a chat.
5. Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Messages and media remain on our servers while your account exists so chats work across devices. When you turn Blink off, we stop broadcasting your live position to others. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Manage account → Delete Account, which permanently removes your profile and associated data from our servers.
6. Security, blocking, and safety
We protect your information using industry-standard safeguards including transport encryption (TLS), secure credential storage on your device, and optional Face ID / fingerprint app lock. Your private messages are not end-to-end encrypted yet, so they can technically be accessed by authorized staff operating the service; we are building end-to-end encryption and will update this policy when it ships. Employee access to systems is limited to what is necessary to operate and secure the service. You can block any user from their profile (tap “…” → Block User) so they cannot message or call you. You can report users for abuse from the same menu. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong device passcode and keep the app up to date.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain uses. Inside NV you can: • Control who sees your profile details in Settings → Privacy. • Manage security options in Settings → Security. • Block or report users from their profile. • Turn Blink on or off, use Ghost mode, and deny location permission in your device Settings. • Permanently delete your account in Settings → Account → Manage account → Delete Account. For any other request, write to us at support@thenv.org.
8. Age requirement
NV is rated 18+ and is not intended for anyone under 18. Features such as live location maps involve sharing your position with other users. By using NV you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or the minimum age required in your country, whichever is higher). If we learn that we have collected data from someone under the applicable minimum age without proper consent, we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data when it moves across borders.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you inside the app or by other reasonable means before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when the policy was last revised.
11. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please write to us at support@thenv.org.
